am not much of an artist. About the only thing I can draw by hand is a penguin wearing a beanie and scarf. I can draw that because once I was stuck in the hospital for days and a friend who was practicing drawing on people for a job at Sea World drew that penguin where I could trace it when I was bored. I was bored a lot. 🙂
I use a lot of timelines to track events and characters in my stories since the narratives merge and crisscross. Port Storm has become a sort of nexus, especially Old Main Street, which is where Other Worlders shop and conduct business with one another. I need my pathetic map to place all the businesses and landmarks so I can keep everything straight.
I’ve been looking around for a way to digitize my scribbled map, but haven’t had much luck so far. In my search, I stumbled across several sites for creating avatars, so I decided to try and bring my characters to life.
There aren’t a ton of options. Most of the choices are pretty limited as far as hairstyles and clothing. Some of my efforts aren’t so bad, but everyone looks like a teenager to me. It’s still kind of fun to try to find the right hair color for Viktoria or the arrogant smirk I imagine Stryx has.
I’m still searching for a way to depict Old Main Street, but I think I will use the avatars in my character bio posts just for fun.
